This prototype sees the creation of a Cost & Energy Efficient renovation model for transforming an ordinary Irish terraced house in North Dublin, currently assessed with a "G" energy rating, into a "B1+" rating fully energy efficient home. This has never been achieved or documented in Ireland before. This is a beacon flagship prototype initiative.
The aim of this website is to inform people of the prototype and its progress as well as introducing them to environmently friendly building materials and the companies that use them. This will be the place to go to find out about the prototype's progress and the work involved. If you're considering renovating your home and improving its BER energy rating, you should follow the progress of this prototype. You never know, you might find something we're doing suitable for your own home.
The Prototype has been initiated by award winning environmentalist and radio host Bernice Maria Paolozzi with the mission statement:
"You Are What You Eat, So You Are The Environment You Live In".
All materials used for the prototype are focused on high Green accredited standards. The intention is that a flexible cost and energy efficient renovation prototype model will emerge from this that can be applied to other situations, scales and budgets, for the benefit of many. Demographically, we have many such houses in Ireland, most of which would benefit greatly from such an upgrade, in terms of comfort, running cost, health and overall value.
We have assembled leading Irish and International suppliers to sponsor this project with the use of their green accredited products and services. In return we will use our experienced Marketing and PR team to ensure these environmental and socially responsible companies receive awareness and just recognition in the media. Checkout the suppliers involved under the partners section!
